Cairo

Wednesday - today we visited the Alabaster Mosque which is in the walled citadel in Cairo. Been in lots of cathedrals in many countries but the mosque today was a first. It's size was very impressive but the inside was quite spartan compared with our cathedrals.

The highlight of the day had to be the Egyptian Museum. The Tutankhamen section was quite unbelievable. He was certainly well equipped for the afterlife with over 5,000 items being found in the tomb, including four chariots, one of which was gold, and lots of bows and arrows for the battles still to be fought. The jewellery and the face mask were breathtaking. It's hard to believe that they are all over 3,500 years old.

Won't be sorry to leave Cairo. It must be the noisiest, dirtiest city on earth. Looking forward to the Red Sea tomorrow.
