Friday - it's getting a little tiresome now not having an Internet connection. It's amazing to think that in the middle of nowhere in Peru we had good connections and updated the blog and face timed
daily.

Can you guess what we did this morning? I bet you can't :-) Would you believe we visited another temple. It's amazing that they are all principally the same but the carvings all tell their own story, making each temple different. The island that today's temple was on was submerged when the first Aswan Dam was built in the early 1900s. 30 years later it was moved piece by piece over a six year period to a new island! After the temple we visited the new dam which was built 50 years ago and I suppose as dams go its ok. At least it holds back Lake Nasser and stops the Nile flooding. We also visited a papyrus makers and also a quarry to see an unfinished obelisk which is still where it was when it was abandoned 3500 years ago because there was a fault in the marble.

Tonight we have been entertained by Nubian dancers. John got excited when he thought it was nubile dancers until I pointed out he'd misread.

And so to bed. We have to be up at 02:45 in order to join the Sahara convoy at 4am to go to Abu Simbel.  Not really sure when I'll get to post this but fingers crossed the connection will be good one of these days.
